@Diotrephes Because Biden used tariffs specifically on products that have a good American alternative. When used correctly, tariffs can be good. But when Trump was president, he used them randomly. This time, he wants to tariff everything. The result is not going to be that companies buy American products instead of Chinese products, because most of this stuff isn't going to have an American alternative. All this will do is raise the price of everything.

It's like any other government regulation. Regulations can be helpful, but not when applied randomly with no knowledge of how they even work.

@Bumbles Aside from the bribery angle, think of a tariff as a tool, say a hammer. Its good for driving nails, but beating on a noisy machine until it stops making noise may do more than stop the noise.
