What is wrong with Reddit?

I recently made a Reddit account. The site has many posts with very active users. I have found there is a subreddit for a variety of interests and subjects.

It has also come to my attention that the users are very conventional and orthodox. Today I encountered a thread about Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán, which has 15 comments so far. It features an article saying that Ursula von der Leyen “attacked” Orbán for his support of Russia in her speech to European Parliament. In every comment, users were expressing a dislike of Viktor Orbán and Russia. In separate posts, I have been called a “conspiracy theorist” twice in one day. It is ok, I am happy to be a conspiracy theorist.

It seems to me that Reddit, with its very large amount of western users coming from liberal countries, is not a dynamic site with regard to political perspective or opinion, or views on social matters. Where is their passion? Why aren't they using their brains to think about things?

Reddit is a cesspool and echo chamber for leftist NPCs. Almost everyone on there is a hive mind. It's a horrible site because of the mindless, conformist people on it and because of the moderators.

@AJS30 Thank you!!! 👊

@AJS30 I have found this to be true in most instances. It seems many of the users have conventional views, and are conformists as you say.

What kind of subreddits have you visited?

Reddit skews neolib and pro-west. I would say the vast majority of that site is soft to hard Globalist types, and politically lobotomized/naive.

Correct - by my experience. Reddit is not at the deep end of the International Political Discourse pool. Like many free social media platforms, you get what you pay for.

@emiliya You may have violated the sub rules by commenting in a verboten subreddit. I had that happen to me because I dared to comment in a conspiracy sub.

@SumKindaMunster I don't think it is verboten in this subreddit.

It seems moderators can delete any comment for any reason. I am getting different reactions to my comments; some are liked; some are disliked, and some are removed. Although it is a site that discourages nonconformity, it does have variation with regard to post topics and subreddits. I still haven't found any striking insights there. Despite how small this place is, I find more insight here. There are SW users with very interesting and insightful things to say. Reddit is also making me appreciate how much freer this site is. It could have more freedom, but you can get away with more here than you can there.

Reddit is the new Twitter. It's where every whiny leftist ended up. They patrol their territory with sharp eyes, and coordinate to downvote, harass, suspend, expel, or doxx users who don't go along with the orthodoxy.

You're whole pro Russia bent will be swarmed upon and expelled from the site as soon as possible.
Reddit is a very big place and individual subreddits can be very different.

@MistyCee Do you use it?
@emiliya I'm subscribed to a few political subreddits, but mostly I browse for food porn/recipes, pool maintenance and keep up with a couple of apps on my phone. I rarely, if ever post.
