What will British voters do when Labour delivers more Thatcherism and austerity?

When it fails utterly some my?

I'm predicting that the Starmer government will become very unpopular within a year to eighteen months. After which, it will be under prolonged and sustained pressure from the left (including unions and labour councils) and the right (a Trumpian/Faragified Tory Party).

Because it can't/won't address people's material concerns and because of the world view of the dominant faction, it will become more authoritarian in terms of policing and 'anti- woke.' I know Starmer rejected Blair's ID cards idea this time but he remains influential behind the scenes, along with many if his friends and that is a harbinger of things to come.

@Burnley123 It could be that that approach will be quite popular with the electorate generally, even though unpopular with the left. And at this stage it's impossible to predict what sort of Conservative Party will rise from the ashes.

@SW-User I doubt that, and in any case someone will have to pay for the renewable energy subsidies.
@MartinII paying more not to go green keeps people working hard. You would never want to change that.

They'll be widely hated, get maybe two terms, and then get destroyed in the wave of popular fascism that kills us all.
