Judges regularly recommend that lawbreakers attend AA as a condition of release or probation.
It is otherwise a voluntary support program and someone has to be ready for it and want it.
Street level addicts are not often in this category. Most of them know the help is there if they so choose.

The best/hardest thing I've ever done for myself was quit drinking.
Today I have a life I could barely imagine...good and bad.
But I want people to know that help and support are available.
This issue transcends class,politics,background etc.
