The Texas Farm Bureau said the Rio Grande Valley Sugar Growers mill no longer had adequate water to sustain operations, an issue the bureau blames on ongoing water issues with Mexico under the 1944 Water Treaty.

I think Mexico is being used as an excuse. The US EPA at it's finest more than likely at play here.

Here's another Closing Notice. The largest Seafood Processor south of Norfolk, Virginia shutdown operations permanently on March 29, 2024 because of US Regulations. They were located in Wanchese, NC.
