UAE Pulling Out Red Carpet For Putin
Putin was welcomed with a ceremony and flyover after landing in the UAE on Wednesday. Putin was received by the President of the Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.
This is Putin's first visit to a country that does not border Russia since the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague issued an arrest warrant against him for war crimes in Ukraine and for his alleged involvement in the abduction of Ukrainian children into Russian territory.
He will continue to Saudi Arabia, where he will meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
A couple of items on his agenda:
1. Exploiting the US, and Western European unconditional support for Israel's Gaza war. He will shed crocodile tears for dead Palestinian civilians, while ignoring the Syrian civilians his army killed and continues killing in Syria. He will offer Russian technology/arms to replace the US and Western Europe.
2. How to keep oil prices high, in light of continued drops in oil prices. He needs the funds to finance his Ukraine war.
