Caltrain To Go Electric Between San Francisco and San Jose

At 159 years old, the San Francisco to San Jose run, is the oldest continually running rail line west of the Mississippi. It started out with steam trains, moving to diesel locomotives.

Electrified trains are doing test runs, and within 2 years, 19 new Swiss made electrified trains, will replace the all-diesel fleet.

Riders will have power plugs in every seat, and LCD scree maps.

Exactly what I have been using on my trips to Europe, over the past few years. This past summer, I was doing zoom calls, from my seat, while effortlessly gliding inside the quiet and electrified train, with not one interruption in the (free) Internet connection, as I was cruising through the French countryside. And the bonus was the concessions cart, where I can order croissants.

We're SO far behind other countries when it comes to train travel. We're actually behind in a lot of things. Really glad to see this moving forward. We KNOW what the future will entail. Why not get to work now?
most do. not know but EVERY TRAIN in the us, but for vintage lines is running on a Diesel electric hybird each locomotive you see? could be used to power a small town.
maybe it is time we started looking into that for emergencies

Crazy how far behind the US is compared to other countries with stuff like trains. Kinda embarrassing tbh

@2cool4school Yeah. Housing prices are just INSANE now. My buddy bought in the Upper Haight about 25 years ago and sold it a few years back. Ka-freaking-ching. I went from S.F. to L.A. and now the mountains. NEVER going back to a big city but for some the draw is there. And yeah. Depending where you are in the state it's definitely a Goldilocks thing. But we do have both the mountains and desert. And you gotta' love fog along the coast. Something for everyone. I think that's what sets CA apart. There's options that don't exist everywhere.
