I live in Canada but I met a Mexican at the local grocery store

I asked where he was from and he said Juarez. He said he was really offended by Trump's border wall and I said, Yeah but you'll get over it.

It is easy to cross from Juarez to El Paso, and always has been.
@windinhishair Yes. No need for a wall. People go back and forth every day.

@Pitchblue When I lived in El Paso, a sizeable number of residents had maids who lived in Juarez and walked across the border every day and back at night. It was common for homes to have a small maids room that was used during the week to cut the border crossings to the beginning and end of the work week. We used to grocery shop in Mexico routinely because prices were lower and crossing was simple.

Every year on Mexican Independence Day in September, there was a large running event that started in the main plaza in Juarez, wound through the streets of Juarez and over an international bridge, went through the streets of El Paso, back into Juarez across another bridge, and finished at the plaza. It was a big deal with hundreds of thousands of spectators. I ran in it twice. With border security following 9/11, I don't believe it is done any more.
@windinhishair I've heard of people crossing daily for work. That must have become difficult when Trump became President.

@Pitchblue I'm sure it became more difficult after Trump. After all, he inspired one of his Cult members to drive overnight all the way from Dallas to kill Hispanics for Trump. Over 20 people died, with a like number wounded, as a result of Trump's racial hatred.
@windinhishair Right the people of El Paso don't fear the Mexicans they fear Domestic Terrorists, White Nationalists.

@Pitchblue White supremacists are far more dangerous than Mexican nationals living in Juarez. Even Trump's FBI and Homeland Security agreed with that assessment.
@windinhishair The Trumpfans regurgitating the bullshit about the border don't live anywhere near the border.

@Pitchblue They don't have to. Fox, Breitbart, and Alex Jones tell them what they need to believe.
