AMD Cuts Revenue Forecast Amid Worst Slump in PC Shipments in Years

AMD said sales in the third quarter are expected to be down 15% from the prior quarter, though up 29% from the year-ago period.

“The PC market weakened significantly in the quarter,” AMD Chief Executive Lisa Su said. “While our product portfolio remains very strong, macroeconomic conditions drove lower-than-expected PC demand and a significant inventory correction across the PC supply chain,” she added.

Intel posted a loss in the second quarter on its biggest revenue decline in more than a decade.

Qualcomm is also cutting its forecast.

Buying opportunity? Buying semiconductor stocks (or ETFs) and waiting a few years will be worth it.

@Crazywaterspring Most of these companies do not pay a dividend. It's hard to predict in this kind of market. It seems, however, that the buying craze may have subsided.
@Northwest Intel's new CEO said in an interview that "Oil reserves defined geopolitics for the last five decades, but technology is more important for the next five decades as every aspect of humanity becomes digital."

He goes on to make the point that it's essential for the US to have cutting edge chip manufacture on our shores, and that with other governments investing in chipmaking, the $52 billion CHIPS act will help companies like Intel & Micron continue to compete in the world.

@ElwoodBlues Gelsinger took the lead, in betting Intel's future on major investments in foundries. The $52B investment is pushing US semiconductor companies to increase their commitments to US-based fabs, by about $250B. That's on top of the major investments Samsung and TSMC are making in US Fabs.

We need to get the fossil fuel. monkey off our backs, but try explaining that to the MAGA crowd.

More people are using a phone and tablets, world wide.

@Oster1 That's when you should consider your delusions, but that's your MO here.
