Dutch Government Doing What's Needed

The world's second-largest agricultural exporter, is one of the top greenhouse gas emitters in Europe. Much of that is related to cattle and fertilizer.

The government wants to cut greenhouse gas nitrogen by as much as 70 percent in 131 key areas -- many of them close to nature reserves -- to reach climate goals by 2030. This means a 40-percent drop in emissions is expected, which would require around 30 percent less cattle.

This means that farmers will have to switch to "green" farming, but the relocation of "buyout" of farmers is almost inevitable, a scenario the government does not want to publicly discuss. The government allocated 25 Billion Euros to help farms transition, with help from technology, while ensuring no output reductions. Their argument is that if regulations are not enforced, change will not happen, and soon, all of Holland will be under water, despite its expertise in building dykes.

The Dutch decided to do the right thing, will the rest of the word hop on board?

This a ten ounce ribeye. Two and half times more than is recommended, and six ounces less than many offered steaks.
A twenty four ounce porterhouse is a common size. People sit and eat it all.
I am a meat eater. My gf and I will by a one pound steak and it feeds us both, twice.
It really isn't difficult to enjoy good meat products, and still reduce production.

@Carla Many people eat more meat than is needed during a meal. One of the reasons Western diets are a cancer, and heart disease risk, as well as obesity.

@Carla For Holland farmers, it's less about the meat, and more about dairy production.

I don't eat meat, but I've been to restaurants in Texas, where they serve 64 Oz steaks with all the trimmings.

@Northwest What's the point of eating 1.8 kg of anything in one sitting. Doesn't it get boring?
Northwest · M
@ninalanyon I am not from Texas, and I don't eat meat.

@Northwest Yes, I understood that, it was a general question about eating large quantities of any one thing at one sitting.

@Northwest do the french and german folks need that much cheese?
Carla · 61-69, F
@Northwest double quarter pounders...with cheese. Jumbo hot dogs, with cheese and chili.
Oversized steaks. Chickens full of so many steroids that a breast looks like it belonged on an ostrich.

@Carla Don't forget the Diet Coke. 😅
Carla · 61-69, F
@chrisCA of course. Must watch those extra calories 🙄

@chrisCA 🤣 I used to work in a restaurant. Double bacon cheeseburger, with mayo, onion rings, large fries, pecan pie. And a diet coke.
