3rd longest river drying up. Poyang Lake dries up

Why isn't this bigger news in North America? Do the governments in N A not want people to understand what the forseeable future is? If there were supply chain problems before what will the heatwave in China do to supply and demand?

I've seen it in the North American news, but I think we're more concerned with the drying up of our own rivers and lakes and reservoirs. For example, I'm aware of the problem in Asia, have been aware of the ongoing desertification of China for a decade or more -- but frankly I'm more concerned on the current local drought because it effects me directly.
