Great Dodger Announcer Vin Scully dies

Lived in L.A. for quite a while and from April to October it was as much Vinnie as possible. The 'best' is subjective but from where I'm standing he was the best there ever was. And if there was anyone who could keep you in the car in the driveway it was him. NEVER heard anyone say anything bad about that man. Pure class. And Dodger fans loved him in a way I've never seen with another announcer.

@Ynotisay Ernie Harwell was a similar announcer in Detroit for generations. I listened to him the first time I heard a baseball game, and then well into adulthood. I was blessed to get to listen to Scully as well after I left Michigan. Both are in the Hall of Fame, and deservedly so. Vin was a master storyteller and sometimes the thread would last innings.

@windinhishair You're right. He could go long form but still drop in the pitch by pitch. SO smart. Never stumbled. When he would say, "It's time for Dodger baseball" it was like getting in to warm bath.
