Isn't it amazing how history repeats itself? When it comes to monkeypox,

It's concerning how there is so much ignorance surrounding Monkeypox with the belief that only gay men catch it. And even though it's nothing like HIV/AIDS, it reminds me of the HIV epidemic where gay men were also the center of attention because it was assumed it only affected them, tricking many ignorant people into thinking they couldn't contract HIV because they were not a gay male. With that being said, It's going to be really interesting how public opinion about monkey pox will change (if ever) later in the year.

Not to mention the fact that this ignorance causes homophobia, Heaven forbid we don’t go back to the dark ages when gay men lived in fear
@PrettyFlamingos And whoever downvoted this (OceanicPopsicles) shame on you for your homophobia and stalking me is really unattractive, so get a life

They're not saying that only gay men catch. They're saying it's spreading through unsafe sexual practices, within male gay circles. To paraphrase it correctly: men who have sex with men communities.

@Northwest And that misinformation is the problem. They should know by now that monkeypox is not something that spreads through semen or vaginal fluid. It’s spread from prolonged close contact with someone infected or touching material that someone else infected touched. Which is why there was news about two kids who caught Monkeypox. The headline should be for everyone to limit close contact with people who beileve they are sick.
