@MarineBob Summer of 2011 was horrible here….we had a damaging microburst storm that lasted about an hour. Everyone ended up having their roof replaced, their fences replaced eventually and tree branches broken. The wind was so strong the rain went sideways and it dumped about 8 inches in a bucket I had in the backyard and ended with a lot of hail that looked like snow. From then on for 2 months we had record-setting heat that was relentless and every day for weeks wind blowing like a blast furnace drying out everything, the farm ponds evaporated, the more shallow rivers and creeks dried up, fields, pastures, lawns turned brown & leaves fell off of trees, the webworms had a field day. I felt sorry for the bees and would give them water to drink and wild birds too. The sparrows would come to the window where my computer was and peck on the window screen when they needed their water refilled. A week or so later the squirrel jumped up on the window screen to beg for water too. I went outside and the water was gone and refilled it.
