Should professional politicians be barred from running for public office?

Why not have people with real life experience and actual jobs that have knowledge of being a member of the public making decisions?

The problem with politics is that people want the job. Make it so unsavory that people are forced to serve at their peril and watch the difference take place.

The original idea was regular people taking short real life sabbaticals, getting modestly compensated, doing government right for a short time and returning to real life. Every document produced by the Framers evidences this intent. Today Utah is run by slightly over 100 part time legislators working 45 days per year. No reason why a similar model would not work with tweaks elsewhere. @hippyjoe1955

@jackjjackson Exactly. Any politician who makes any more money than his or her per diem while in office should face the firing squad even if the payments come after the politician leaves office. Any hint of corruption is to be investigated and if found guilty .....
