Now that there is no more news in the Gabby Petito case, the media has settled on the Alec Baldwin prop gun shooting as its latest obsession. ~

It's the familiar pattern: breathless wall-to-wall coverage ad nauseam, 24-7, almost as if nothing else important is happening and worth covering.

What's your prediction for how long this will last? Weeks? Months?

Baldwin leans pretty far to the left, is outspoken about it, and outspoken anti-firearm rights.

As I recall, he claimed that he would leave the US to take up citizenship elsewhere if George Bush was elected. A promise he didn't keep. He also had that well publicized telephone exchange with his daughter.

Why the hell is an anti-gun leftist making a movie with guns? Why the careless regard for gun safety if he was convinced that firearms are dangerous in the hands of ordinary citizens?

Why all the attention? Some in the media are probably trying to rescue him. He has political value for some. Also commercial value for some.

@Heartlander You're overthinking it. Why do you think he's making the film? It's his profession and livelihood, and he's being highly paid based on his name and stardom. It's not that hard to figure out with minimal thought.

I don’t know what your main news source is, however I have seen very limited coverage and discussion about Alex Baldwin
It is a serious news story and should be covered until the investigation is over. That could take several weeks

@GJOFJ3 I look at several outlets, including the New York Times, New York Post, and the Wall Street Journal. Of course it's a serious matter, and so was Gabby Petito, but some outlets treat it as the only serious matter there is to cover, which it is not.
