Could there ever be another "regime change" war by the US in future?

I can't see it ever happening again, not after Afghanistan and Vietnam. The people have to believe the US has their backs permanently and Americans at home need to believe success is achievable, neither seem likely ever again, right?

I ask myself what would happen if Taliban-supported terrorists attacked the US again, similar to the 2001 events. How could America possibly react??
