The songs of the woods...

The last time I was out I managed to hear crickets, katydids, jumping brown trout in the "crick," a Barred owl, later some Eastern Screech owls, coyotes yipping before a hunt, a Turkey hen calling her chicks, and a fox barking (if you can call it that).

The woods are my happy place and to sit quietly, listening, is one of my favorite activities.

In a couple of months, there will be marked silence as the cold and snow come in. While beautiful, the muffled lack of noise makes me sad. I will miss the chatter of the evening forest.

Throw in some bull frogs , ducks and geese, fish jumping, and deer activity and you have described my farm. It is so wonderful to sit in the blind listening to the sounds of nature.

@TexChik The frogs aren't out this time of year but I love hearing them as well. The deer here are so quiet unless you catch them eating. Bucks are kinda crazy right now lol.

@PixieParty The bucks were grunting like crazy this evening , starting to think about breeding. We have our first freeze coming tonight , so the morning hunt should be amazing. I imagine the bullfrogs have buried up in the mud to hibernate here too.
