Sitting in front of the fire in the woodstove is comforting. It's the first thing i do in the morning these days -- get the fire going and make a cuppa coffee for my wife to sit in front of the fire in her rocking chair. With luck the newspaper has been delivered and I have my crossword puzzle, etc., to do while I sit there, too.

After a walk in the crisp air, returning to a warm home and lovely food. Sadly, too many do not have the luxury of that these days even in rich countries.

The shortest day of the year has already passed. We went for a walk in the woods today in brilliant sunshine. There are already buds on the trees and we spotted the first daffodils and snowdrops of the winter. Fewer than eight hours of daylight today but things are looking up 🙂

But it isn't a bleak time of year. The days are starting to get longer and even though the days are still short and cold the sun is shining brightly.

And while spring might seem far away, it is coming.

The love for my family brings warmth into my heart.

Here in Florida the days we have bright sunshine and 83 degrees daily. 😎 We actually have to run our air conditioner.
