The Poetry of Snow and of Me
Shall I sing to you
Of certain simple joys
To make you pause
And consider beauty
Let me start here
The majestic evergreen
Stands before me
Five stories tall at least
Snow heavy upon the left side
More so than on the right
The wind is winding its fingers
Around all the forestry
Pulling
Whipping
Sifting
Cascading
Down
Comes
the
S

Let me revel
In this nature's artistry
How she casts her magic
I notice this
Do you
Before it ends
In brown sugar slush
And heavy shoveling
And heavy exhales
In crispy crunchy air
Stamping boots
Scraping car windshields
Unfogging glasses
Frequent curses
Shiverrrrssss
Curled in a ball to warm in bed...
*this will have to stay unfinished as I have things to do*
Today I am grateful for
my dog, Sasha, feeling better after a trip to the vet yesterday
finally finding one pair of my long John's-the other is still missing
good German bread for toast
leaves still on the oaks whispering to the winter wind
having my home to myself
finding some winter clothes I had forgotten about
fuzzy blankets
friends here who are part of my heart
Indeed there are so many blessings in my life.
These past few years have been challenging to say the least.
I keep moving forward. Sometimes at a turtle pace. Less like a Thoroughbred.
Still it is hope and faith and love that rises to my life's surface.
Reach out to others. Be better today than you were yesterday.
Things will get better because they will. I know this.
*This poet has to return to laundry and all those mundane things.
The music is so good today, I can dance some.
And think of you.
Be kind to you and to others and I will catch you soon.
Oh, and bananas do not travel well. I am laughing.
Winter Day 6 here. Want some snow? Where ARE my winter socks?
Come sing with me.
*Started a poem of the poetry of snow from trees. Unfinished from work on Saturday. And just adding more words like sprinkles to complete this posting. Take care. Best wishes, Poe aka Cynthia aka PoetryNEmotion.*
