The beauty of old trees

Enduring countless weatherings through seasons of time
Yet still standing beneath a vaulted sky,
where winds creak the branches.
Resilience in it's sway
Holding the light,
yet casting shade in dappled silhouettes.
Olden days imbued in it's cracks and hollows.
Nothing intended or forced,
merely carrying out it's process
existing for us..living things
I breathe oxygen,
and for a moment
I feel connected..
Though it has roots below
my footsteps walk above..

I like this one, especially the last two lines. For many trees, the root system is similar in size and spread to the canopy, which is really amazing. I know I’ve said it before, but the older I get, the more I love trees.

@Harmonium1923 Indeed. They are amazing. I cried when the neighbors cut down a very large tree in their pasture that I watched the sun rise through every morning .

So many elements and nuances we could expound on.. Thank you, H.🩷
