My new trees arrived!

The Woodland Trust in Wales is giving away free trees! I applied online a few months ago. The are supplying people with native British trees to plant in their gardens. ( its too late to apply this time, but its likely they will do it again in future)
Mine arrived yesterday. Now....i dunno quite what i was expecting, but my 'twigs' arrived on Wednesday and are now awaiting me to plant them in a suitable spot.

Does anyone have any advice for me please? As they are tiny baby trees, should i put them straight in the ground....or plant them in a pot first to start them off?? Also, with it being so cold and frosty right now, i wouldn't have thought its the best time to plant them out??

Anyone?

Id pot plant then first. Feed them. Then replant them once theyre a bit bigger. You will need space so pick a suitable area.

@agonyaunt thank you.
We have the space. We own a strip of land behind our garden....between us and a new housing estate. They will go there. 馃檪

@agonyaunt @RubySoo stable them with a stick when they do eventually get planted in the ground, autumn/winter is good time to plant trees

Nice. Not an expert, but if it's cold I might consider putting them in pots and keeping them inside until milder weather.

Free trees 馃槺 why didn鈥檛 I know about this deal 馃槀馃槶馃槀馃槶 they鈥檙e going to look beautiful 馃檪 the cherry will have such a lovely blossom xx
Two very different trees with vastly different environment requirements. Fortunately, both can be planted in Spring.

I advise that you do your own research before even doing anything with these trees to ensure that you get the best placement and soil type for them.

Are you supposed to put them into the ground and then see them grow big in 20 years? 馃槄
