I Love Trees

I love trees and it is breaking my heart to have to take down so many around my little house in the woods. Our state has been devasteted by the Emerald Ash Bore.

I took down 19 in the front acreage of my property last summer. I have two more that might last two more years. Planting a lot of maples and tulip trees to try to replace. I’m truly sad to see these kindly gentlemen trees go.

@trackman11 It is difficult to watch. I love tulip trees. They are so hardy. I think I will plant a few Red Maples and an evergreen or two.

@SweetMae red maples are a good choice. A good mix of evergreens makes winter seem less cold. I agree on tulips. I do need one or two more redwoods as well. Lol. Sorry, I really am a tree nerd. (Not an expert, just enjoy them)

@trackman11 I am too!! I love trees. Which evergreens do you think would do well?
trackman11 · 61-69, M
@SweetMae depends on where you live, what zone? In Indiana I like various spruce, red cedars, an emerald green arborvitae. They are relatively slow growers but really nice trees. White pine grows rapidly here but often outpaces the root system and I have found some to be unstable. I have a clay diol which is a little limiting.

@trackman11 I think I would like to try a few blue spruce. They seem to grow in this area well. They do smell good.

@SweetMae I like blue spruce. If you start small the take a few years to lay down a good root system and then grow rapidly. Ok. I’ve bored you enough my friend, but thank you. I enjoyed talking trees with you. 🙂

@SweetMae you are welcome Mae. Keep being you. I’ve observed how many are so genuinely happy to see you comment on their post. You are needed.
