Summer is finally here. The kids are out of school. It's time to take that annual vacation or road trip.

I have the money saved I am going on vacation!
Max out the credit card. I deserve a vacation.
Do something closer to home.
Maybe visit relatives and mooch off them for a week.
Have a staycation. I can't afford to go anywhere.
Maybe go camping in a park. Keep it close and cheap.
With the high cost of fuel and skyrocketing inflation I can't even afford a week off.

So with doubling fuel prices and skyrocketing inflation what do you do? Whip out the credit card and rack it up or stay home as usual?

If someone drives something sensible then just take the road trip.

If their ego is causing them to drive a pick-up that is comparably sized to a semi truck, maybe find something close to home.

@Stereoguy That’s transportation, a hotel room, and a laundromat all in one. No need to tip a valet to carry your bags or worry about getting bedbugs in a hotel….can bring the cat and also pull over and use the bathroom without having to stop at a rest stop. Pretty damned convenient if you got the $$$ to operate it.

@Stereoguy @cherokeepatti

Patti has a point there. Although one has to wonder if it would not be cheaper just to sleep in hotels.

I was thinking more though people who drive things like F350 or Toyota Tundra.

@CestManan It might be cheaper but the bedbug factor is yikes any more.

@Stereoguy I have daydreams about RV’ing and being able to do all of that. Is it safe to cook while someone is driving? Because that kind of sounds interesting. By the time you get stopped the meal is on the table, hehe. No down time.

@Stereoguy ooh Crockpot. Also Rice cooker. For $7 a week does that include water fills and black tank dumping?
