ChIA-PET... [I Love Springtime]

...No, this not the same thing as "Chia Pet", despite what Google would have you believe.

Enter "ChIA-PET" into the Google search bar and the first two pages are filled with nothing but entries related to the familiar terracotta figurines used to sprout chia.

Search Google Images and you come up with a lot of images like this...

Not even close. No cigar and no Richard Simmons work-out video for Google.

So what the hell is ChIA-PET, you ask.

ChIA-PET (or ChIA-PETS) is an acronym for Chromatin Interaction Analysis by Paired-End Tag Sequencing, which is "a technique that incorporates chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP)-based enrichment, chromatin proximity ligation, Paired-End Tags, and High-throughput sequencing to determine de novo long-range chromatin interactions genome-wide".

Fascinating stuff, eh? Ch-Ch-Ch-ChIA!

Also, Happy May Day.

Hmmm...that’s interesting! I love how the acronym is akin to a building block of the computer. So easy to memorize and relate, if you’re in the field of microbiology or genetics. 👌

This is a truly fascinating science...and the breakthroughs we’ve seen in gene technology are mind blowing...yet it’s only the beginning of manmade miracles.

Isn’t that vaccine AstraZeneca based on something similar? 🤔

@Vivaci I know nothing of the technology, but I agree that we are seeing some amazing breakthroughs in the field.

That's entirely possible.
They’re able to generate tissue and organs based on a persons DNA. Imagine patients who are dying of organ failure...kids dying of cancer. One of the breakthroughs involves teaching our body cells to identify a cancerous cell and selectively destroy it! 🤯

Lolz...I have read it’s something bout that. We should ask our friend the expert, Nuno50 @Rutterman

@Vivaci It holds great promise, certainly. Being able to knock out the plague of cancer would be wonderful beyond words.

Haha. That's really not what my post is about. 😄
😆 I know... it’s funny how the same word can have polar opposite meanings. 😁

Pray enlighten me then...🙈

@Vivaci It's supposed to humorous. Google brings up totally irrelevant entries and images because the words are spelled the same way, minus the hyphen in ChIA-PET.
😆 oh I got that bit..I thought there was something else that I might have missed! 🤭

Btw...Chia is what my brother calls me...it’s like my petname! 😬😳@Rutterman

@Vivaci Nope. That's pretty much the extent of it.

Oh, cool. I'm assuming he doesn't have a stutter, or else he'd call you Ch-ch-ch-Chia. 🤪
🤩 That’s actually pretty cute sounding...☺️@Rutterman

@Vivaci Haha. I think so too. 😅
