Snow is precipitation, just as rain is precipitation as are ice pellets precipitation. Falling moisture in any physical form is called 'precipitation'.
This would mean that the opposite of precipitation is "drought". 🙃 🌵

@swirlie You can only have so much precipitation before it becomes a drought. Drought can't be more or less than zero.
Zero meaning no precipitation is the baseline.

@swirlie negative, zero and positive IS a dualistic point of view.
It's on a single line with two opposites.
While temperature and humidity is on a two dimensional plane.
That is how weather is somewhat represented. Minus a wind factor making it three dimensions or three vectors in math.
And it can get even more complicated with a fourth air pressure vector.
It's all a matter of perspectives.

@swirlie snow would have to stop before reaching near zero going downwards. While rain would have to stop going upwards to zero from the negative side. Zero again is no precipitation.
Very simplistic point of view. Don't make it more complicated. Because it simply can't handle complicated situations.
More complexity needs more vectors (dimensions).
