I Love Sitting By the Campfire

Another evening by the campfire.
I always find it fascinating, mesmerizing to stare at the flames as they dance and twirl around the wood. Sometimes it looks like fingers of flame caressing and teasing that which it burns.
There's something about sitting around a campfire with others that induces introspection and meaningful conversation.
And when alone, quiet contemplation.

I made a funny observation about campfires years ago, we have a lot of fires for fun in my social group. Most friends have yard fire pits. We have fires for every evening shin-dig, no matter the season. No matter what, at some point you will find every male at the party at the fire pit, while the females have wandered into the house. They all stand around the fire, staring at the flames, speechless, with blank stares. Since I noticed it, it has been true so often, it has become a running joke. I think it's a caveman issue. 馃槅

@dragonfly46 How true, getting back to our Neanderthal roots, I suppose.
Always enjoy a good shindig. At the very least to say I was at a shindig 馃榿

@dragonfly46 So do I! I don't get to use it as often as I would like. Shindig and hootenanny!
And anytime you can insert "brouhaha" into the conversation is never a bad thing ;)

@dragonfly46 When I ask my DH what he's thinking if he's quiet, he says, "Beer. Fire." Yeah, that.
