When I was about 12, I got some Venus flytrap plants by mail order from South Carolina, and got them to grow in flowerpots.
I tried feeding them live insects, but the traps never closed quickly enough. If I gave them dead insects, the traps would eventually close after a day or two, and then stay closed while the plants digested them.
Lazy flytraps, or maybe they just weren't hungry...? 🤔
