Expectations are bound to happen every now and then. It is our nature to be inconsistent in how we approach the world, because we are inconsistent beings.
I would say people are emotionally mature when they learn to manage their feelings in accordance of what is best for them and other people; they start letting go of what harms them and others, have good sense of personal accountability, and better understanding of the necessary circumstances which require sacrifice..etc.

@Miram I find it really difficult to expect anything from other people anymore.

@SpiritSkye I think you mainly mean you find it difficult to rely on others/depend and trust.

It is not. It is damage control, not the desire to control other people.

@Miram I need to control my own environment and safety bc I never had that . So I get that. I don't really care about controlling others unless they are in my space or effecting me . But that's rare too. :)
