About to retire. What to do next?

I am thinking, while I have my health, maybe I should go on a bike tour someplace. What is it like to ride a bike all day long, anyone with experience? Do you get used to it after a week? I imagine some days are torture, like when it rains or gets windy or cold.
Do you feel safe?

You have to take a number of shorter rides first. Your butt can get awfully sore until you get used to it. Start out with a 2 mile trip and gradually increase until you get to the distance of your tour, then you will be able to enjoy the sights and not be in pain!

@fanuc2013 I was looking at those padded shorts on amazon, do those actually work or just a gimmick?

Congrats on retiring. Bike ride or not, mind your health and take care of your money.

You should definitely do it. I have two friends in real life who do those rides. One went from Venice California to Venice Florida in 10 days. There is a YouTube channel called Keep Your Daydream. They have done a few rides. One from Michigan to Florida. They vlog all of their rides. Go check them out.

As with anything start with small steps, increase in time, intensity and frequency
