West Nile Virus
Most people with West Nile virus have no symptoms; about 80% of infected people feel nothing. For those who do get sick, symptoms usually start 2–6 days after an infected mosquito bite and can be mild flu-like illness (fever, headache, body/joint aches, vomiting/diarrhea, or rash) or, rarely (<1%), severe illness affecting the brain/spinal cord (high fever, neck stiffness, confusion, tremors, convulsions, muscle weakness, or paralysis).
