Sticky traps

We are animal lovers. We would never kill an animal without cause. We discovered a mouse in our house a few months back and tried to corner it to catch it with a towel but it was too fast and escaped.
We bought lots of humane traps, loaded them up with peanut butter and put them all over the house.
Months went by and nothing, we thought maybe the mouse had run away or died or something. The traps did not work. There was no mouse poop anywhere we could see.
The other day wife saw something move in the kitchen and then noticed some of the bristles from the broom had been dragged in under the fridge.
Not wanting a repeat of the "chase the mouse with a towel" game, this time we bought sticky traps and put them all around the fridge at night. Added a few extras behind some of the cabinets. Nothing the first night, but second night my daughter woke us up, something was squeaking under the cabinet. Got him.
He was stuck good, on his side, just his head free wiggling around.
Used some vegetable oil around him and two minutes later he was free. Of course I did this outside.
He will be a bit oily but no worse for wear. Sticky traps for the win.
Just keep an eye on them as it would be inhumane to let it die on that, filled with terror.
