I am SO dirty!

Spent the afternoon getting the backyard garden ready for planting. It was hot and I was covered in soil and sweat by the end.
And then I noticed these, nature’s little bells :)

Lilies of the valley. Sweet, modest little beauties.
@Mamapolo2016 they aren’t a weed are they?
@Ghostinthemachine No. They're a treasure.

About Lily of the Valley Plants

Lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis) is a woodland flowering plant with sweetly scented, pendent, bell-shaped white flowers borne in sprays in spring. Lily of the valley plants produce adorable flowers with a strong scent that sends a pleasant aroma throughout your yard. With varieties that grow to be only around 6 to 8 inches tall, lily of the valley flowers look right at home in spring gardens or planted underneath trees and shrubs. You can also use lily of the valley plants as borders along walkways and paths to create an enchanting landscape.
@Mamapolo2016 Thank you! They are growing just below the lilac tree and the combined aroma is magnificent, albeit brief.
@Ghostinthemachine If it lasted year-round we wouldn't find it so magical.
@Mamapolo2016 you’re right, but just a little longer would be nice :)
@Ghostinthemachine I agree. 😊
@Mamapolo2016 probably best to always leave us wanting more 🤓
@Ghostinthemachine I was born in May and have always regarded lilacs and lilies of the valley as cosmic birthday gifts.

By the way, your little lilies are cousins to asparagus.
@Mamapolo2016 Happy Belated or Early Birthday! 🎂

So...should I eat them?😋
@Ghostinthemachine Thanks. And NO.

@Mamapolo2016 is that why my belly is starting to ache😖
@Ghostinthemachine I doubt the berries have developed yet.
@Mamapolo2016 true

Maybe it was the potato chips.
Or the donuts
Or...
@Ghostinthemachine Just so you know ... can be fatal (especially the bulb). Kids, dogs, cats, adults who graze...

In contrast, Lily-of-the-valley is an imported flower that has invasive habits and contains cardiac glycosides that affect the body in a similar manner to foxglove (digitalis). Symptoms of ingesting it include flushed skin, nausea, dizziness, headache, weakness, hallucinations and changes in heart rate. In extreme cases, it can lead to death.
@Mamapolo2016 So...sorta like falling in love.
I choose LOVE!🥰
@Ghostinthemachine Now that you mention it, symptoms are quite similar.

Even if you think it's love, get your stomach pumped, to be safe.
@Mamapolo2016 I do that even when I know it’s love ;)
@Ghostinthemachine It couldn't hurt. 😂😂
