When I was a kid, I had an unusual spring job. During spring, a beehive typically splits, with the new queen leaving the hive, and taking half the colony with her. They fly off some distance, but not too far, and land on a tree, in a shaded area. I would mark the spot, and the farmer comes back at night with his equipment, putting a bag or box around the new hive, and transporting it into a new box.

I hated it, but got to read a lot while waiting for something to happen.

I've seen some real beautiful structures.
