So I'm camping by myself and I love it.
But the question I get most is...
"By yourself? Are you sure your safe?"
As if I would only be OK if I had a man along. The question was never asked of me till I started camping alone 3 yrs ago.
Once I and my best friend went..
But again was asked "By yourselves" lol

You know, you can go with a lady and still not be alone. Camping alone ,like many other things in remote locations, can be dangerous. It's not about having a man. It is about having a second pair of hands and a second set of ears & eyes

Maggie may I used to be just like you. Too afraid to go by my self. I had always been camping with others.
But I've enjoyed it more cause you are really away from it all and I mean all. Best rest from home I've ever had.
Its how I over came my fear of the dark.

@moonchild. I don't have a area like that close by. We have a golf course that's got a small wood close to it. Don't think the people would appreciate me camping there.

I've seen a lot of female campers on there own, they camp different but they manage, in away it's cute to see them doing their thing and if they act wise, it's not more dangerous than it's for man camping alone.

@moonchild maybe I should start with camping outside my house first lol

Maggie may that's an excellent idea. That exactly where I'm at this weekend. I have a little bit of land out in the country. I'm about 100 yards from my house.in a wooded area of my property.
Couldn't go away this weekend because of mother's day. So I pitched down here.

So I've been here since Friday and even made it thru a hell of storm last night! Still here. Going to stay all week!! At least that way I don't have to interact with my husband....

I love camping but I never been by myself. I don't think I'd enjoy it much. I'd be to afraid. Going to do lots more wild camping this year with my hubby. Looking forward to that.

Gypsymiss!!! I'm so happy to see you! And Moonchild, yes, alone equals relaxation. There aren't many places I can say that's true. :)
No but seriously, i couldn't be trusted to go completely alone. Oh look at the pretty bear. *becomes breakfast*

I think its more safe to have a company, enjoy it :)

Rotten .... You said it!!! I too am a better fire builder than any of the guys I know as well. Lol And my point exactly about why I prefer alone. It gets tiresome building up their manhood. Alone = Relaxation
moonchild · F
Lol no probably not. Security would be there before you got set up.
moonchild · F
I actually like it better.
Maggimay · 46-50, F
They don't have security there but they have members with clubs lol

I used to camp alone in my 30's. I lived close to nature and I always felt safe. I also was always asked stupid questions that irritated me. I make a better camp fire then any guy I know, plus I can cook on it. Why do I need a dude strutting around when I'm trying to relax? Lol.

Try it you may be amazed

There are some men who are terrible outdoors and some women who are the most outdoorsy people ever. It's just silly to think having a man with you makes you any more safe
