Tornado/Cyclone in the UK

They are actually very common in Britain but receive little attention because the majority of them are too low-powered and too short-lived to do any real damage.
@ArishMell No, we like to minimise them further by calling them "mini" tornadoes.

@HootyTheNightOwl LOL! A cylcone is a cylcone irrespective of size, of course.
@ArishMell Exactly... they don't call flash floods "mini" floods on account of the fact they affect smaller areas than major flooding does. A flood is still a flood.

We do get "mini" heatwaves, though... and I'm unsure of the difference between those and an actual heatwave - since both mean that you're going to get hot.

"Flash" flood does have a specific meaning, of being of very rapid rise and short duration; typically from a thunderstorm over ground either already saturated or very dry.

Unlike "mini heatwave", which seems to mean its peak lasts only about two or three days.
