Had to google the difference between a typhoon and a cyclone and a hurricane.

Cyclone is the technical name for what is known in different countries as a typhoon or tornado, and a relatively small--diameter but extremely intense circulation.

A hurricane is a different beast altogether, a very large depression-type storm hundreds of miles in diameter.
