I Survived a Tornado
This happened when I was a teenager. It's something that still bothers me. I don't want to get into the sad details, but I wanted to write about some of the stuff I saw after the storm. The first thing I noticed was a porch column that had went through our car's windshield. We never could figure out where it came from, as it didn't match the columns from nearby houses. There was a trash can lid under the tire of my dad's truck, meaning the truck had been lifted off the ground. The passenger door on the same truck had around 15 nails stabbed through the metal. The entire front porch was gone, and we never found any of it. There were hundreds of photographs strewn throughout the woods, of people we'd never seen before. We pretty much know everyone in this town. It's a very small town. Chicken houses had been destroyed, and hundreds of chickens were roaming around. Many of them were injured. Some of the cows and horses were in bad shape. We'll never forget some of the stuff we saw. It's incredible to see what the weather is capable of.
