I Do Not Like Hunting

I have this fantasy where I am the gun-bearer to a party of trophy hunters in Africa. One night, while they are asleep, I remove all the firing pins from their guns. The next day they go to shoot a rhino and "click", the guns don't work. The noble rhino in righteous rage thunders down on them. The hunters run frantically, screaming in terror, pissing their pants in fear, as the mighty rhino visits vengeance on the cowardly psychopaths.

Aren’t you a brave soul? On top of being a coward and a criminal in your dream ... you also have your facts wrong . Rhinos are not legally hunted . Removing a firing pin is far beyond your capabilities...and of course it’s such a chicken shit thing to do .

There is nothing wrong with legal hunting.

@TexChik I know about guns. I know how to remove a firing pin from a rifle.

@badminton oh do you? You have a bolt press handy? Uh huh

@badminton I'd say trophy hunters richly deserve anything they get. Killing defenseless animals with a rifle is both cowardly and sadistic.

how defenseless was the beef you get from the store mr macho ?

@TexChik With most all rifles, once you remove the bolt you can lift the pin out of the firing pin channel with a small, thin screwdriver or similar tool.

The firing pin has to move so it rests in the firing pin channel in the bolt. Pull the trigger, that releases the hammer, hammer hits the firing pin, pin hits the primer of the cartridge, then BANG.

@badminton Maybe a pre 64 Mauser. But all modern rifles usually if you have a bolt problem the manufacturer requires that you send it back and they usually just replace it. None of my rifles offer any access to the firing pin.

@TexChik I'm not entirely against hunting for food. It's trophy hunting, which is killing animals for fun, which I find replusive. Killing endangered species, Giraffes, elephants lions, tigers, bears, any apes, is major sin and has to be answered for.

@badminton any hunting group that has gun bearers is a legal group . Deciding people should die because you don’t like trophy hunting is The sin... and ignorant . Those people pay a lot of money for the privilege of taking a trophy. Governments decide how many to allow to be taken .... not anti hunters.

Had you any concept of game management you would know that species thrive when their numbers are kept in check
