Right on. LOVE that area. Great time for you to be there. Magic.

I did the 50 mile Benson Lake loop (one of my favorite trips) and the weather started getting crazy when I was heading out and decided to set up on the south side of Barney Lake. It was the last day of summer and about 6 inches of snow fell overnight. It was crazy. I was in a younger Aspen grove and the trees bent to the ground with the snow. To get out I'd hit the trees with a trekking pole to knock the snow off and they'd bounce back up. So cool.

You timed it perfectly for the Aspen color. Great shots. Fall in the Sierra. THE time to be there. Thanks for sharing these. Put me right back there.

Side note. Big thanks for calling it "Sierra." When I hear "Sierras" I'm pretty sure it's from someone unfamiliar. Muir had a real hard on about that.

@Ynotisay But wouldn't Sierras be correct when comparing Nevada (here and Spain) and Madre?

@tindrummer Good question. Sierra means "range of mountains." So it's already plural. "Sierras" translates to "range of mountainses." I have heard Sierra Nevadas, which distinguishes it more, and I think that's considered "acceptable."
There's a great quote by Ansel Adams about it. Like Muir, he fought for "Sierra."
“The name Sierra is already a plural. To add an s is a linguistic, Californian, and mountaineering sin”. :)
