Off to go camping for the weekend ...

We are packed in the car like sardines ...
My kids are completely miserable they are being removed from the comforts of their home ... And at this moment , we are feeling very intent on leaving them at the camp site on our return .....

Ahhh , but to dream 🤔😊

Once we have arrived though , And we have completed all the shit work to get our site ready , things will change .. Kids will find their bearings, fun and adventure will be had , people will get sweaty, Smokey abd dirty .....

and as always we will all be delighted to come home ..

My style of camping. Very rustic and no electronics along. Just what will fit in one bag and the canvas tent.

Yes we hunt or trap for our own meat. Got to keep skills sharp. Never know when WW3 is going to start

@HumanEarth My camping style is the comfort of our RV. 🙂

@Musicman I have an RV to. It a 1975 Coachmen Industries

Manual Windows, and was converted to 4 Wheel drive 5 years ago

Here a photo before the 4 wheel drive was added

And took out the automatic transmission and made it stick shift when I did the 4 wheel drive conversion. Basically it all came as a package deal and I like stick so much better

@HumanEarth That is great. I have never seen one with four wheel drive. Have you taken it off road yet? Here is a picture of ours.

@Musicman Oh yeah I have. Its running 40 inch tractor tires on it right now. Why tractor tires? You ask. Because they were free and they just so happen to fit the stock factory rims.

I have taken it on a test drive in my swap. It drove though the swap like a tractor would.

But the exhaust got flooded and I have to move the exhaust up. Other then the exhaust filling up with water. It worked great with that granny low transmission.

The gear ratio on the front and rear ends are 578.

Which means it can do 55 - 65 mph but don't like it. Its cruising speed at 50 mph?

Basically its a strong beast, but not fast
Musicman · 61-69, M
@HumanEarth That is a seriously steep gear ratio. God bless you. In my younger days use to drag race. For the 1/8 mile tracks I would us a 5:13 gear.
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
@Musicman I will most likely change the gearing down the road. When either I get some extra money or it becomes two big of the ass.

See thats the gearing that came with the axles. The axles came off an old dump truck
Musicman · 61-69, M
@HumanEarth I understand. Money talks.
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
@Musicman I do free till I can afford to replace.

Otherwise as a motorhome, I updated the furnace a newer one and went with a thankless hot water heater.

Little things at a time.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@HumanEarth Exactly! How are you liking the tankless hot water heater?
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
@Musicman Using a lot less LP now and the New Furnace don't have a pilot light. So thats saving on LP to.

The only thing when it gets like 30 below zero the furnace don't want to work when its that cold.

I think its because of the electronics this new furnace has
Musicman · 61-69, M
@HumanEarth I am sorry to hear that. Ours runs off of Diesel. Fortunately we have never had a problem with ours.
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
@Musicman I talk to a RV service guy and he some of the newer stuff can't handle some the norths coldest temps. I have a Minolta electronic film camera and the battery freezes up and the camera stops working.

So I kinda believing in what the service guy is telling me.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@HumanEarth Yep! Sounds like you need some warmer weather.
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
@Musicman Or go back to the older mechanical style, but finding one working might be hard
Musicman · 61-69, M
@HumanEarth My vote is warmer weather. 😊

@Musicman Just setting it up as a spare house, in case my home ever catches on fire or something
Musicman · 61-69, M
@HumanEarth Smart idea. After hurricane Ian last year the county said if your house was damaged you could park your RV in the front yard and live in it for two years while you were repairing or rebuilding your home.
