Campers/hikers Have you ever used a life straw?

Do you feel that it works? I would imagine there is a variety of ways to clean water… but just wondering if anyone has had good bad experience with them?

I have never used one. When I taught survival we carried Iodine tablets that supposedly killed all the nasty stuff in the water. Must have worked I used it on some really doubtful water and never got sick. Maybe my immune system was strong enough.
