I took a “sounds of the night” hike with a not-quite-a-park-ranger

and instead of actually like listening for anything we just hiked for 2.5 miles and halfway through he said “there’s usually an armadillo who hangs out under this lookout”. We did end up seeing an armadillo. But that was it. That was the sounds of the night

I love the night, and it's sounds.
In summer and autumn, I leave my bedroom window open so I can hear the hawks and owls and possums etc sometimes the wild swans nesting and honking at each other. Frogs in season are awesome .

Even in a city, somehow sound is different at night ....kinda soothing .
