Lilnonames How true. We raised and butchered a calf for beef products and a hog for pork products. My mother raised a large garden, green beans, corn, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, radishes and many other vegies which she would can or freeze for use during the rest of the year. We would also go out in the woods and collect walnuts and hickory nuts to use in candies made during the holidays. We always had a table full of food at each meal.
