I Grew Up On a Farm
I always lived on a farm. The group photo makes it look like we all live on pig farms but we don’t have any pigs. It’s all sheep. The land is very steep. And it is cold because it is 300m and in my country that means cold. Well it is 52degrees N!
We are a big family. Six kids. The older ones have left home but Ffion and I am left. My name is Lili. And we have our different jobs to do on the farm. I get up at 04.30 to feed and water the sheep. They don’t usually need water because they only ever drink if it’s dry. And we live in Wales. Dry is a word we don’t really need to have in the dictionary. It takes up space and uses paper unnecessarily.
But they need food. Especially now when the lambs are taking milk. The feed I give them is sugar beet pellets. We use about six bags and they are quite heavy. I take them to the sheep on the quad. I have to spread them along a long trough so all the ewes can get to them. And then I make breakfast and go to school.
Usually I do the same after school but Ffion is doing it tonight because I am cooking later on. I do the cooking mostly because I love it!
