The In-Between - A Little Longer
Perhaps we sometimes miss the beauty of transitions because we are too eager to arrive on the other side.
Some things are meant to be experienced slowly, like letting a piece of candy melt on your tongue rather than giving in to the temptation to bite it.
You stay with it a little longer.
You notice how its sweetness changes.
You let it gradually fade rather than disappear all at once.
There is something gentle about that kind of ending. It gives you time to notice the sweetness leaving, rather than suddenly finding yourself in the emptiness that follows.
Perhaps some moments in life are like that, too.
They aren't meant to be hurried through or consumed all at once. They ask us to remain in the in-between a little longer, to notice what is changing, to savor what is still here, and to let the ending arrive gently.
Because sometimes, it isn't the ending itself that leaves a void.
It is how abruptly we arrive there.
One post that that I found, which beautifully explores this transition is the below:

There is something beautiful about gradualness.
Like the leaves changing—not suddenly, but one edge at a time, one shade at a time, until green quietly gives way to gold. 🍂
Perhaps the in-between isn't simply a place on the way to somewhere else.
Perhaps it is a season of its own. 🍂
