An Afternoon Walk

Footfalls in the forest
Carry me along my way
Light rain drizzles and mists down upon me.
Still, my feet keep to the walking.
Slow but steady.
Matching the rain's persistence.
The trail winds off into the trees, who's newly leafing branches obscure the way ahead.
Gone is the bare stark beauty of the winter.
Replaced by the prettiness of all the things that grow and are green.
A knot of newborn tiny toads scatters silently at my approach.

The river slides idly by on my right.
Catching the droplets and mist, in a speckled grandeur of dots and ripples.
Like colorless fireworks painted on the reflections found there at the surface.
It takes a while, but I am wet.
A slight chill sets in, and I smile, removing my hat, and running my hand through my hair.
Pushing back it's slick wet strands, to feel the water run down the back of my neck.
I turn to place the river on my left and head home.
Not quite happy.
Not quite tired.
Just a lonely case of contentment.

*The words are mine, The pictures aren't. ~ It was too wet for photos.*

Sounds peaceful and cleansing. I love walking in the rain.

@ChampagneOnIce the rain was wet, the air was crisp, and the forest was alive with sounds and smells.

It was nice.
