@ScreamingFox this is the Pocono mountains, about 2 hours from me.
People like to laugh at NJ but the diversity of beautiful environments you can drive to is impressive.
I was 2 hours the opposite direction in NY earlier in the week and the souls of these 2 forests are so very different. Completely different experience.

@robingoodfellow I've been to the Poconos, they are very old and magical.
I admit I haven't explored much of NJ aside from the coast, which reminds me of here.
Feel free to drop some names of cool spots lol I'm a short drive away and in desperate need of a break from tourists.

@robingoodfellow ugh the first time I saw them was in autumn when we left in the van. I was entranced. Tripping lol The winding road that gave me courage. There are spirits ancient as the earth all along the East 🖤

@ScreamingFox people talk about the majesty of the Rockies and the Alps - and they are amazing and special- but mountains of eastern North America are old. They were already old when the Rockies were born.
