Made it to the water. Mostly on vacation for the next week or so; a few work calls and a couple of emails to wrap up, but nothing crazy.
Sat by the water and wrote for a while; thought of H.P. Lovecraft and what kinds nonsense he might imagine lurking under the surface of the water. I wonder if the surface of the water would be, to sea creatures, the shore; or if it is more like space is to us; a dangerous veil to be pierced.
Looking forward to spending the next week in nature. When I was a teenager I ran away to Canada and worked on a farm with the migrants, picking strawberries and raspberries. Often, I'd wake up early and go down to the dock to watch the sun rise. This is a good place to let the mind wander and write stories.
