It's his sunnin' spot. He'll be happy to surrender it for new digs in september.
Be sure though, to replace it in spring!

@Carla He has two sunnin' spots, depending which way the sun shines thru the trees in the morning. Actually there are two snakes. I've been approaching them for around 3 weeks now, and they trust me. I can be an inch away and they won't flee. They will have a place in spring. 🙂
